Our process for paying attorneys.

Docketly works to pay attorneys in a timely fashion. We do not hinge attorney payments on the receipt of funds from clients and work diligently to pay our attorneys as frequently as possible.

General Timeline

Paper Checks:

The paper checks are processed only once a month, during the first two weeks of the month.

You will receive an email once the payment file is sent for processing. This email includes details of the check such as the amount, mailing address, and a listing of all the hearings paid out on the check. Please note, that it will take several days for the check to be placed in the mail once you are notified. Please expect the check to take at least two weeks to arrive once you receive notification of payment.

ACH Payments:

On average, you can expect to receive payment around one week after the hearing date. We work to run ACH payments about twice a week but as it is dependent on staff availability, holidays, and the size of the run, we cannot guarantee or provide specific dates for payment. You will receive an email once we send payment to your bank. This email will include detail of all hearings paid in that payment run.

Please do not contact us for payment status unless it has been at least one week from your hearing date. Before this, we will not be able to provide much, if any, additional information as this is still within the normal processing window. Docketly does not have regularly scheduled payment days each week. While it may seem regular at times, this is not guaranteed nor something we are able to commit to.

Please note: It can take between 1-3 days for your bank to accept and post the payment to your account.

Exceptions

There are a few things that would cause a delay in payment for a hearing.

  • Hearing report not yet submitted - We cannot pay you until we get the results.

  • Suspended attorneys - There is often an issue we are trying to resolve with you on some matter related to a hearing you covered.

  • FTA - if you fail to appear for a hearing, you don't get paid.

  • Unscheduled hearings - An unscheduled hearing will hold up the payment for the entire bundle it is associated with.

Once the matter is resolved, or the issue addressed, you will be paid in the next payment cycle.
