How to find your annual mileage

Since Docketly has a record of all the appearances you made in the course of a year, we can generate an estimated annual mileage total that you can use as a basis for your tax deductions.

Here is the link to the information:

This report is also available under “Insights” from your home page sidebar. On the left hand side of your home page, just click the grey "more" button and then select "insights". This will take you to your mileage report.

A couple of caveats:
1. We rely on our friends at Google Maps to tell us how far apart things are based on the shortest route.
2. We used your office address we have on file. If that’s a PO Box, then we assume you drove from the post office. Making sure your personal information on your profile is up to date helps us calculate the most accurate mileage.
3. We assume that you drive from the office to court and back for each bundle of appearances, not each individual hearing in that bundle. You will see a “+” next to hearing locators where there was a bundle.

You can download a CSV version of the data from the link above. This is easily imported into Microsoft Excel. From there, you can delete, edit, and add to quickly generate totals if there is something that needs tweaking, like if you covered a hearing remotely that was marked in person.

We understand that your annual mileage report is beneficial especially during tax season. Hopefully this tool is helpful in you filing your taxes, or just tracking your mileage total for any other financial reason.
